Wonderland's debut, performed alongside Dublin Fringe 2003, was a black comedy horror collection of dramatised ghost stories, gathered
from local people in Dublin and counties Mayo, Sligo and Galway, which were then extensively improvised by the company.
The tales were told and performed by The Hell Fire Club, eighteenth century rich boys who worshipped the Devil. In between their own encounters with Satan, they try to frighten one another with such tales as the strange Fairy hauntings in The Aran Islands, The mysterious Demon Pig Killings in Christchurch or the Phantom Sailors at The Cape of Good Hope. It was performed in front of a roaring fire in the upstairs of G.F. Handels of Thomas Street (a Georgian Dublin bar) to packed houses by Sharon Mannion, Caroline Coffey, Alan Smith, Conor O'Neill and Paddy Broderick. The show was written, directed, produced and designed by Alice Coghlan in association with Paddy Kelly. G. F.
